Hello and welcome to Chipman's SOUTH AFRICAN PSX Mod Chip site. Everything you ever need or want to know will be found right here at your fingertips with our staff always prepared to help out when they can. This page is not published for the criminally insane but for the legitimate software owners and developers who would like to backup their original software and use the backups on the Playstation or 'playtest' software written by themselves. This will keep the originals safe from children, thieves and general wear & tear. Making a backup of your original software is perfectly legal as long as you own the original. If you sell or lose the original, then the copy of that original must be destroyed. All Sony Playstation games have a 'protected track' written to the CD which normal CD burners cannot duplicate on CDR media.. With the mod chip installed, it fools the console into thinking there is an original disk in the unit by buffering the subcode data from the CD and injecting its own data into the unit. This procedure will still take place even with original disks as well. It must be understood that the PSX Mod Chip does not convert your PAL system into an NTSC unit or vice-versa. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
